CRISPY COUNTRY CHICKEN FRIED STEAK WITH WHITE GRAVY
Every time that I make Country Chicken Fried Steak, I think of the first time I had it. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was undecided on what to order, so my mother suggested it – it being her favorite and all. I went ahead and ordered it, because I trusted my mothers judgement. Besides – I figured that it was “chicken” fried steak, and you can’t go wrong with chicken right?( so I thought, but that’s a completely different blog post! ). When my plate arrived to the table I seen these beautiful golden fried patties topped with white gravy. The steaks were served along with sunny side eggs, and hash browns. Everything looked perfect! I remember biting into the steak, which was perfectly seasoned, and tasting the combination of the steak and the gravy. It was like a match made in heaven! BUT I quickly realized that I wasn’t eating “chicken”! I was a little confused. I asked my mother to taste it just to make sure that I had the right order, but My mother was too consumed with her plate to worry about mine. I decided to ask the waitress what I was eating, and the waitress politely explained to me that Country Chicken Fried Steak was a cubed beef steak that was fried the same way that people fry chicken. I was satisfied with the answer, and I quickly returned to back to my plate! Although I was expecting chicken, the chicken fried steak surpassed my expectations! Since then Chicken Fried Steak has been a favorite main dishes. I not only serve it for breakfast, but for dinner as well! It goes great with creamy mashed potatoes, and green beans!
